B-roll/soundbites package is a compilation of video highlights and interview "snippets" that a producer can use to produce their own story. Here are a few examples: Launch of a new Web site: Footage consists of shots of the actual Web site and someone using the Web site, soundbites with the CEO and Internet use; Magazine cover story: Footage consists of magazine cover shots and behind-the-scenes of photo shoot, and soundbites with the editor-in-chief and person featured on the cover; Commercial preview: Footage consists of behind-the-scenes of the making fo the commercial, sneak peek at the commercial, and soundbites with celebrity featured in commercial, company spokesperson and creator of commercial - ad agency.
A b-roll/soundbites feed gives the television station/outlet the opportunity to obtain footage and storylines without the expense and inconvenience of sending out their own producers/crews to cover that particular story. Many news producers use the b-roll/soundbites to supplement their own local story. B-roll and soundbites are preferred for editing purposes.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
DMS is not a production company - Our focus is placement, distribution and monitoring. We can distribute the b-roll/soundbites packages either via scheduling satellite feeds/uplink for stations to downlink or cassette/hard copy distribution. We pitch the story to targeted producers/reporters at TV stations and national outlets. We also provide producers with local angles, additional information, etc. In addition to our downlink call-backs and hard copy follow-ups, we do extensive follow-ups to ensure the stations/outlets will air the b-roll/soundbites in a timely manner. A "DMS 25 Hot List: is provided for "day-of" event related stories.
Tracking is done via Sigma and/or Veil encoding. Detailed follow-up reports include airdates/airtimes and audience figures.
We are always available for client consultations, DMS pitching strategies and "brain-storming" - free of charge. We provide all of our clients with a personal and honest service.
